God is much like our earthly father, he has great wisdom and strength, but also great mercy and compassion. He is here to nurture us and to support us in our daily battles. He is a kind and forgiving God, he holds no records of past faults or short comings. We are his children and he will always be there for us no matter what... we can never have done to much "bad" in God's eyes that we can not come and make things right. Best of all you don't have to wait until you think you have made yourself acceptable.. this will never happen if you follow this path you are your worst critic and will never be good enough to yourself. God wants you just as you are.

He is a counselor - Psalms 147:5 says, "his understanding has no limit ...", there is never a problem that we can come to him with that he can not help us solve.
He is merciful - 1 Peter 1:3 says. ".. in his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope" - he erases our past mistakes and invites us to come start anew with open arms.
He is our guardian - Psalms 32:7 says, "You are my hiding place, you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance." He will guard us and protect us.

Above all, the Bible teaches us, "God is Love!"--1 John 4:8.--He's not some kind of a cruel monster Who enjoys seeing His creations suffer, Who wants to deny us all pleasure and happiness and make us miserable! He's not a heartless tyrant Who is trying to frighten everyone into Hell.--He is a God of Love Who is trying to love everyone into Heaven!
